Providence, RI’s Brown University to Host Collegiate Gymnastics

Brown University hosts the 2014 USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championships in Providence, R.I., as the University of Bridgeport looks to earn its sixth-straight team title this weekend, April 11-13.

The three-day meet will feature eight varsity teams. Competition begins Friday at 2 p.m. ET with two sessions of team semifinals and the all-around finals, which will be located at Brown’s Pizzitola Sports Center. The second semifinal is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.  Team finals will start at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday, and Sunday’s individual event finals are scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.

Video of the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships will be broadcast live on BrownBears.TV. Fans can subscribe and view games by purchasing yearly, monthly, weekly or daily packages.

The schools competing in the team competition are: University of Bridgeport, Cornell University, Lindenwood University, U.S. Air Force Academy, Temple University, Seattle Pacific University, Brown University and Texas Woman’s University.

Schools with athletes competing for an event or all-around title only are: Centenary College, Southern Connecticut State University, West Chester University, University of Pennsylvania and Yale University.

Bridgeport has won the team title the last four years, and tied with Cornell in 2009.

The USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships is for Division I, II and III schools with less than seven-and-a-half full scholarships.
