The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the promotion of Amanda Blomquist to the role of business development director of marketing.
In this position, Blomquist will continue to lead the creation and promotion of member communications and marketing initiatives that enhance the understanding of chamber programs, services and events. This includes producing the weekly Grand Strander newsletter, showcasing daily content on social media accounts and supervising the business development team’s graphic designer.
Blomquist has worked for the chamber for the past 10 years, starting as a marketing coordinator and advancing to marketing manager in September 2021. A graduate of Leadership Grand Strand Class 37, she’s also pursuing an Institute of Organization Management certification from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute.
“Amanda’s promotion reflects our ongoing commitment to recognize and reward exceptional performance, as well as our dedication to providing internal growth opportunities for our valued employees,” said Matthew Metzger, vice president of HR and operations. “She has consistently demonstrated excellence in her work, contributing to the chamber’s achievements, including being named the 2023 Outstanding Chamber of the Year by the Carolinas Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives.”
Prior to joining the chamber, she served as a news reporter with both The Sun News and My Horry News, after graduating Coastal Carolina University (CCU) in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Science.
She lives with her husband, Rob, and their two children near Surfside Beach. In her off time, she enjoys spending time with her family and supporting CCU athletics.
