The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce (MBACC) and Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is pleased to announce the promotion of Shannon Furtick, IOM, to business development director of member engagement.

In this role, Shannon will manage all chamber member experiences, services and programs with the goal of strengthening member engagement and retention, ensuring that MBACC investors needs are not only met but exceeded.

“By fostering strong relationships with our businesses and nonprofits, it’s my goal to create a thriving business community that contributes to the overall growth of the Grand Strand and brings prosperity to everyone who calls our region home,” Furtick said.

Furtick, who grew up in the Myrtle Beach area, attended Horry Georgetown Technical College and has worked for the chamber for 16 years. Among her achievements at the chamber, she graduated the Institute for Organization Management (IOM) by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in 2016, Leadership Grand Strand Class 31, received the 40 Under 40 recognition by the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives in 2020, and received Multiplying Good’s Jefferson Award in 2022.

Furtick is also credited with building the chamber’s prestigious ambassador program, which has over 30 volunteer participants who provide mentoring to new and existing investors.

In 2022, Furtick helped to develop and now leads the chamber’s Nonprofit Council, which provides networking and educational offerings to develop nonprofit members.

Assisting Furtick in her new role is Isabella Cenatiempo, who was recently promoted to Business Development Programs Manager and staff liaison for Grand Strand Young Professionals.

“Undoubtably, Shannon’s service to the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber over the past 16 years has helped contribute to overall success, including receiving numerous accolades such as being honored just this year as the 2023 Chamber of the Year by the Carolinas Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives. Her promotion to director of member engagement reflects her unwavering commitment to excellence within our organization and throughout the community we serve,” said Karen Riordan, MBACC president and CEO.
