One conference with five championships in three sports, all looking for homes. Meet the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, made up entirely of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) located in the Southeastern U.S. (including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi) that are affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA.)
And right now, the GCAC needs sites for the following championships:
- Men’s and Women’s Basketball
- Men’s and Women’s Cross Country
- Women’s Volleyball

Men’s & Women’s Cross Country
Duration: 1 Day
Approximate Travel Party (Student-Athletes, Coaches, Support Staff, GCAC Staff): 170
Preferred Dates: October 20 or 21, 2023
Women’s Volleyball
Duration: 3 Days
Approximate Travel Party (Student-Athletes, Coaches, Support Staff, GCAC Staff): 370
Preferred Dates: November 2-5 or 9–12, 2023
Men’s and Women’s Basketball
Duration: 4 Days
Approximate Travel Party (Student-Athletes, Coaches, Support Staff, GCAC Staff): 520
Preferred Dates: February 21–25, 2024
The totals (in case you’re counting) are 1,060 students across eight days.
