Home to MTSU Athletics

Murfreesboro is home to Middle Tennessee State University, a proud member of NCAA Conference USA. The heart of the athletics facilities is Murphy Center Complex, which includes: Murphy Athletic Center (basketball/volleyball and indoor track), Floyd Stadium (football), Dean Hayes Track and Field Stadium, Reese Smith Baseball Stadium and Alumni Memorial Gym.

 

The Murphy Center arena seats 10,000 spectators and is the site of NCAA basketball, volleyball and more. MTSU’s Floyd Stadium, can accommodate 32,000 fans and annually hosts Division I football games, Drum Corps International and the Contest of Champions. Patrons can enjoy the use of open-air boxes, club-level seating and suites for events. From the stadium press box, you can take in views of the entire city of Murfreesboro.

 

Soccer Reigns
In total, Rutherford County offers sports planners 39 soccer fields for tournaments. Richard Siegel Soccer Complex, a $13 million facility nestled on 137 acres in Murfreesboro, has 21 fields and includes a championship soccer stadium. This is one of the premier soccer facilities in the Southeast and hosts local, state, regional and professional soccer competitions. With a 13.5 million-dollar expansion, Richard Siegel Soccer Complex includes 7 new synthetic turf fields located at the 21-field complex which are available to rent. In addition, a brand-new 110,000 sq. ft. indoor soccer training facility is now open.

Adams Tennis Complex

A partnership between Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation and Middle Tennessee State University resulted in the impressive Adams Tennis Complex. The facility has eight color-coated asphalt indoor courts in addition to the existing 24 outdoor courts, 16 of which are lighted. The indoor tennis complex is climate-controlled and has electronic scoreboards, a pro shop, locker rooms and downstairs lounge area. The upstairs mezzanine provides seating for spectators with views of all courts and additional lounge areas.

 

Tennessee Miller Coliseum

Unique to Rutherford County, Tennessee Miller Coliseum is a 220,000-square-foot indoor facility that hosts regional and national equestrian events, sports tournaments and tradeshows. The facility is capable of stalling 498 horses and seating 4,600 spectators. The nationally renowned facility has recently hosted the USDA Cynosport Dog Agility World games, the Tennessee State Archery championships and countless equestrian competitions.

 

Outstanding Amenities

Aside from the facilities mentioned, Rutherford County offers 39 baseball and softball fields at complexes like Barfield Crescent Park, Star*Plex, McKnight Park, Cedar Stone Park and Veterans Memorial Park. There are also several state-of-the-art bowling centers in Smyrna and Murfreesboro, offering participants 126 lanes for tournaments or fun. To complement all these amazing facilities, sports planners will find five public golf courses, five-disc golf courses and 18 pickleball courts across Rutherford County.

 

What to do

Indoor community favorites include the Discovery Center at Murfree Spring and the Earth Experience Natural History Museum, both located near downtown Murfreesboro. Burn off some energy at Climb Murfreesboro, Smyrna Outdoor Adventure Center or explore along the 32 miles of paved Greenway trails. Cool off in the summer months at the Boro Beach Water Park located at the Sports*Com facility in Murfreesboro or at SplashTown in Smyrna.
