The annual National Junior College Athletic Association Division III World Series will return to Greeneville May 24-30 for the third straight season, and the event will kick off with Kid’s Day at the Park on Friday, May 24 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Tusculum University’s Pioneer Park.
All youngsters ages 14-under are invited to come to the ball park on that day for free hot dogs and chips and get a chance to meet some of the players from the teams who will be in town to compete for the coveted title of World Series champions.
Kid’s Day at the Park participants will have the opportunity to watch batting practice, collect autographs and enjoy the pageantry that is the World Series.
The best part is that everything is free. The event is sponsored again this year by Grand Rental Station and Nathan’s Concrete Pump Service.
“The Kid’s Day has become a regular part of our event, and we are so happy to be able to provide this opportunity for them again this year,” said Tammy Kinser, the Greene County Partnership’s Tourism Director and member of the Partnership’s Sports Council, which has taken on hosting the World Series as a project. “We had an awesome turnout last year and we expect another big crowd on May 24.”
Sponsors of large groups or clubs are asked to contact the Partnership (423-638-4111) to let them know how many to expect from their group.
The World Series will begin on Saturday, May 25, with eight teams from across the nation competing for the title. The double elimination tournament will continue through May 30.
