The City of Pecos and the Sports Facilities Companies (SFC) are thrilled to announce the appointment of Thomas Ward as the new General Manager of Cyclone Ballparks. With a wealth of experience in parks and recreation, Ward brings a unique understanding of the role that facilities like Cyclone Ballparks play in communities, along with a strong commitment to creating exceptional experiences for residents and guests alike.
Ward's background in parks and recreation, coupled with his extensive experience managing programs and leading local events, makes him an ideal fit for this role. His vision for Cyclone Ballparks includes positioning it as a premier destination for both Pecos residents and visitors from across the region. Under his leadership, Cyclone Ballparks will see an increase in local programs and events, offering more opportunities for community engagement and socialization.
"I am honored to serve Pecos as the GM of Cyclone Ballparks," said Ward. "I have always sought opportunities where I can challenge myself while helping build something special for the communities I have worked in, and I knew that Pecos was the place where I could do just that."
Originally from Overland Park, Kansas, Ward holds a degree in Park Management and Conservation from Kansas State University. He began his career working in the parks and recreation departments for various municipalities, where he provided customer service, managed programs, and led local events. His dedication to continued learning and advancing community well-being is evident in his certification as a Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP), a title held by only about 7,000 individuals in the United States.
During his tenure in Frisco, Ward was involved in several large projects, including the creation of a local summer camp for 720 kids, generating over $200,000 in revenue for the department. His experience has prepared him well for his new role at Cyclone Ballparks.
The park is committed to being the leading facilitator of baseball and softball in the region. Cyclone Ballparks, along with its Phase II expansion, represents a significant investment by the Town of Pecos City in its residents. The ballpark is set to be an economic driver for tourism through large-scale tournaments and events, which will support local businesses as visitors stay in nearby hotels. Additionally, Cyclone Ballparks will provide a gathering place for residents, helping to build a strong sense of community through socialization and fun for all ages.
