Major League Baseball (MLB) has awarded its 2024 All-Star Game, and accompanying All-Star Week events, to the Texas Rangers and its Globe Life Field ballpark.

The 2024 All-Star Game will be played on July 16.

Globe Life Field, which opened in 2020, was the location for the first World Series played entirely at one site since 1944.

The event in 2024 will mark the second time that the Rangers will host the All-Star Game, and it will be the first at Globe Life Field.  The Ballpark in Arlington previously held the 1995 Midsummer Classic.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said: “Major League Baseball is pleased to award the 2024 All-Star Game to the Rangers and the Cities of Arlington and Fort Worth, which presented a robust bid for All-Star Week. The Rangers stepped up under difficult circumstances and Globe Life Field served as terrific host for the 2020 postseason, including the World Series.  We are excited to once again feature baseball’s newest ballpark on a global stage next summer.”

The Rangers will follow the Seattle Mariners. In September 2021, it was announced that the 93rd Midsummer Classic would head to T-Mobile Park on July 11, 2023. Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles hosted this year’s game on July 19.

Rangers majority owner and managing partner, Ray Davis, said: “With the opening of Globe Life Field in 2020 and the incredible development that continues to take place around the park, Arlington is an ideal location to host Major League Baseball and the Midsummer Classic.”

While the 2025 hosting rights are yet to be awarded, the following year’s All-Star is due to take place in Philadelphia to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.
