At 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, the Midland GMC Invitational Professional Bull Riders (PBR) competition will take place at the Midland County Horseshoe Arena & Pavilion at 2514 Arena Trail. The top 40 bull riders and the top 40 bulls from four different states will compete.
Dickie Williams is the promoter of the bull riding event and said this is the sixth year for the competition to be held in Midland.
“We chose Midland to host this event because of its great economy, hotel choices, and great venue,” said Williams. “The event will have top-named guys from the PBR Built Ford Tough Series versus some of the best bulls in the world, so the fans should see some great rides.”
Bull riders will include L.J. Jenkins, Ben Jones (signing autographs at Midland GMC on June 14 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.) and Marcus Mariluch (signing autographs at Cavender’s, 2605 W. Loop 250 N., on June 14 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.). Bulls featured will include Speckled Ivory, Little Kombat, and Shepherd Hills Stockman.
Tickets can be purchased in advance online at www.midlandhorseshoe.com for $20 plus a $3.50 convenience fee, or in person at the Midland County Horseshoe, $21 in advance, $26 the day of the event. Children age six and under receive free admission. Doors open at 6 p.m.; competition begins at 7 p.m.
