The Certified Piedmontese Beef Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series San Antonio is gearing up for its 15th anniversary race weekend on December 2-3, 2023. The event offers a running tour of the Alamo City area with distances including Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, and a 5K race.
In 2008, San Antonio faced an alarming challenge – it was ranked as one of the world’s fattest cities. Determined to make a difference and hoping to inspire San Antonians to adopt a healthier lifestyle, the city of San Antonio worked to bring Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series to town.
While there is still room to improve, San Antonio has moved from being the second fattest city in the world in 2014 to now holding the 25th position (out of 100 cities that were ranked).
“As we celebrate our 15th year, we invite everyone to be a part of this incredible journey,” said Scott Langen, Regional Director for The IRONMAN Group, which owns the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series.
“Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just starting your health and fitness adventure, there’s a place for you at this event. You can choose to run or walk the 5K or challenge yourself with the full marathon as we have a distance for all abilities.”
In 2023, the event’s mission in San Antonio remains the same; guiding runners to embracing a health journey in the months leading up to race day and as they revel in the music-filled, spirited atmosphere on the course.
The public is also invited to enjoy local musicians, join in at the Health & Fitness expo during race week, try the local cuisine, and support the runners during the race weekend.
