The 2024 Fall Classic will be held on October 3-5, 2024 at various locations throughout Midland and Odessa.
 

The 2024 Fall Classic is a three-day gathering, which is free and open to the public, and is expected to attract 2,500 athletes and 5,000 spectators to West Texas. Funding for the next three years, with an option to extend for a further two years, was agreed upon when planning the move from Bryan-College Station to Midland-Odessa.  
 

Special Olympics Texas hosted its 2024 Fall Classic Press Conference at the CEED Building Auditorium (1310 N FM 1788 Midland, TX 79707) on Tuesday, April 16th, 2024 from 10:00-11:00 am. The event was co-emceed by Jay Hendricks of CBS 7 News, and Tatum Hubbard of The University of Texas Permian Basin. The conference was held to celebrate Special Olympics Texas Fall Classic partnering with the Cities of Midland and Odessa for the first time ever, and to inform the public about what to expect from this year’s Games.  
 

Senator Kevin Sparks, Mayor Lori Blong of Midland, Mayor Javier Jevon of Odessa, and Tim Martin of Special Olympics Texas spoke at the press conference alongside key law enforcement officers within the community, community members and Special Olympics Texas athletes.
 

Special Olympics Texas CEO Tim Martin remarks that, “Special Olympics Texas is proud to partner with the Cities of Midland and Odessa for our Fall Classic games. The opportunity to showcase the beauty and hospitality of west Texas while simultaneously giving our athletes an incredible backdrop in which to meet friends, exceed expectations, and make memories to last a lifetime is unmatched.”
 

SOTX athletes will participate in several sports and programs during the games: swimming, golf, equestrian, bocce, softball, FUNdamental Sports, and more.  Special Olympics Texas athletes across the state have been training for their sport for weeks and months, while also participating in area-level competitions.  They will be supported by more than a hundred coaches.
