UTSA (8-4), representing the American Athletic Conference and Marshall (6-6), representing the Sun Belt Conference will meet in the 2023 Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl on Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 8 p.m. CT at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. The game will air on ESPN and will simulcast on ESPN+, the leading sports streaming service.
“We are excited to have two outstanding teams participate in the 2023 Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl, the UTSA Roadrunners and the Marshall Thundering Herd,” said Sean Johnson, Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl Executive Director. “We are looking forward to hosting this great matchup and welcoming the teams and their passionate fan bases to Frisco, Texas for an exciting week of bowl events and a fantastic game at Toyota Stadium.”
UTSA will appear in a bowl for the fourth consecutive season. The Roadrunners come to the Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl with an 8-4 record overall. UTSA features redshirt sophomore Trey Moore, who was voted the AAC Defensive Player of the Year. Moore, a freshman All-American by three organizations last year, posted 45 tackles, 17.5 tackles for a loss and a school-record 14 sacks – only one half sack shy of the AAC single season record.
Marshall is bowl eligible for the seventh consecutive year. The Thundering Herd are led by redshirt senior cornerback Micah Abraham who was named to the All-Sun Belt Conference First Team. Abraham is currently No. 3 in FBS in passes defended in 2023 with 16. His three interceptions lead Marshall's defense and his 13 pass breakups are also No. 4 in FBS.
