The American Jump Rope National championship will bring together the top jump rope athletes in the world to Salt Lake’s Zions Bank Training Center, from June 25-29th, 2024. Hosted by the American Jump Rope Federation (AMJRF), this summer’s event will be jump rope’s first national tournament in the Beehive State. With approximately 1,900 expected attendees, this event is estimated to have more than $1.2 million in direct visitor spending.*
“We are tremendously excited for the opportunity to host the 2024 American Jump Rope Championships in Salt Lake! This event has been on our radar for quite some time, and we are excited to showcase our Olympic city to these world class athletes, ” said Clay Partain, Executive Director of Sports Salt Lake.
Many athletes setting their sights on Salt Lake were part of the US National Team that competed in the World Championship last July, an event that was streamed live on the Olympic Channel.
“RSL is happy to welcome the 2024 American Jump Rope Championships to Zions Bank Training Facility. When the opportunity came to work with them in producing an amazing event it was a no brainer for us,” said Mitch Perkins, Senior Director of Events for Real Salt Lake. “Our facility is built on bringing premier athletes and events to the training grounds and adding this event to the calendar is something we are excited for. We feel this is going to be one of the best new additions to the 2024 calendar.”
Competitive jump rope is a growing sport with two primary disciplines - single rope and double dutch. Within each discipline are a variety of competitive events that test athletes’ agility, creativity, and teamwork. Speed events challenge athletes to finish as many jumps as possible in the allotted time frame. Top competitors can reach scores of over 200 jumps in 30 seconds – over six jumps per second. Freestyle events are choreographed routines that showcase incredible gymnastic ability and creativity. Even seasoned athletes are guaranteed to see something new every year.
“There’s really nothing like it,” said Brian Hsu, AMJRF President. “I’ve been involved with jump rope for over 20 years, and the constant innovation and the supportive community are what’s kept me in it for so long. It’s truly a lifelong sport.”
