Children who have seen “Brave” or “The Hunger Games” and who want to emulate their heroes in those movies will have their chance with a bow and arrow in an event sponsored by the Wenatchee Valley Sports Council.
USA Archery, the governing body of the sport, has endorsed efforts of local organizations to bring archery to the next generation.
The Wenatchi (spelled to honor the Native American Tribe) River Traditional Archers will be offering young children, (under 3 1/2 feet tall) a chance to learn archery at the Riverside Park in Cashmere on Saturday June 29, as part of the Founders' Day Celebration. This event will be held right after the Ping Pong drop at the park at 2:00. The emphasis includes safety, learning about archery equipment, fun, learning a new sport, and meeting other children who share an interest in archery.
