Visit Eau Claire, in conjunction with the Chippewa Valley Museum, the City of Eau Claire Department of Community Services, the Eau Claire Water Safety Task Force, the Eau Claire YMCA, National Park Service, the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, Water Street District and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, announce the launch of the Chippewa River Water Trail (CRWT).
Expanding on the already-present excitement about Eau Claire’s rivers, this coalition has worked for two and a half years to determine the safest travel route, best practices, and historical significance of the Chippewa River Water Trail. The coalition has created a detailed brochure as well as an online guide so locals and visitors alike have easy access to knowledge about the Chippewa River Water Trail. This guide will help recreationists navigate hazards safely so that they can enjoy everything the river has to offer. The Chippewa River Water Trail flows 4.2 miles through the heart of Eau Claire, the perfect length for canoeing, kayaking, or tubing.
Major funding for this project was provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services; additional funding was provided by Debra Becker - State Farm Insurance, Eau Claire Community Parks Association Foundation, Inc., Mona Lisa's Restaurant, Red Flint Group, South Barstow Business Improvement District, and the UW-Eau Claire Foundation. The National Park Service’s Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance Program provided technical assistance in developing the CRWT.
