The Madison Area Sports Commission (MASC) recently presented at the Rotary Club of Madison’s meeting. Representing MASC were Deb Archer, President & CEO, and Jamie Patrick, Vice President. Their presentation centered on the economic impact of sports tourism and its effect on the local economy. Last year, MASC booked 36 events for the Madison Area.  This translates to $11.5 million dollars in economic impact to Dane County.

“We were thrilled to be able to share our great sports tourism story with the Rotary Club of Madison at a recent meeting,” said Deb Archer. “Sports tourism is a win for everyone, from area businesses and communities to participants, venues and spectators. Since MASC was formed in 2010, we have attracted 380,000 sports enthusiasts to the area which has resulted in $48 million in direct spending which has been injected into Dane County’s economy. Presenting at Rotary Club of Madison was a great opportunity for us to underscore the importance of our work with these key civic leaders of the Madison community,” added Archer.

Rotary Club of Madison was founded in 1913 and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2013. With over 500 members, Rotary Club of Madison is among the 10 largest clubs in the world.

The Madison Area Sports Commission (MASC) is the greater Madison area's official sports marketing organization. Launched by the Greater Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau in 2010, MASC is charged with elevating the recognition and awareness of the impact of sports tourism on the regional economy while serving the unique needs of the sports tourism business.
