Visit Eau Claire, in conjunction with the Eau Claire Sports Commission, is happy to announce that Eau Claire has been selected as one of three finalists for the 2017 National Beep Baseball Association World Series. Representatives from the National Beep Baseball Association (NBBA) came to Eau Claire to tour the Eau Claire Soccer Park as a possible venue at the end of May. Along with a venue tour, the representatives experienced hotels, attractions, and restaurants in the area. This week, Visit Eau Claire was notified that Eau Claire was selected as a finalist and was invited to present a formal bid at the 2015 World Series site in Rochester, NY, July 26th.
The NBBA is a national volunteer organization that developed, promotes and encourages an amateur, adapted form of baseball program in the U.S.A. and international communities. They strive to elevate the ability of blind and visually impaired individuals to perform recreational and competitive athletic skills while encouraging and supporting the participation of all sighted and non-sighted individuals towards that goal. The World Series is the culmination of several qualifying tournaments played around the country. The top 22-24 teams qualify to play in the World Series each year.
The event would bring over 400 players to the community for seven days if Eau Claire is selected. Tournament dates for 2017 are July 30th-August 6th. Other finalist cities are Bryon-College Station, TX, and West Palm Beach, FL.
The event has an estimated economic impact of $340,200 for the Eau Claire Area.
