Eau Claire Hosting FIS Cup

Jan 26, 2017

Eau Claire has something very unique happening this year, and something to be extremely proud of.  The Eau Claire Flying Eagles Ski Club is hosting a FIS Cup on January 27-28, 2017.  Fourteen countries including the USA, Canada, Finland, Norway, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Slovenia, Austria, Japan, Kazakhstan, and Korea have all registered to compete.  For people attending the Silver Mine FIS competition, they are all getting a preview of the world championships which will take place in Park City, Utah, one week after the Silver Mine competition.

For 131 years, members of the Eau Claire Flying Eagles Ski Club and tournament sponsors have been unwavering in their commitment to achieve an international competition of this magnitude.  Eau Claire, hosting 14 countries for this level of competition, has never happened before.  No doubt this is the largest international event ever to occur in Eau Claire.

Silver Mine Hill is one of only four FIS certified Olympic size ski jumps in the United States, and the only complex and ski club to attract this many countries for such an event outside the Olympic venues of Lake Placid, NY, and Park City, Utah.

The estimated economic impact to the Eau Claire area from this event is $364,500.
