The Eau Claire Marathon is slated for Sunday, May 7 with this year’s event being the fourth year under race directors, Pat Toutant and daughter, Emily Uelmen. Along with the full marathon (26.2 miles), the event will include a 13.1-mile half marathon, a 5k race and a four-person team relay marathon. This year’s event will also feature the third annual Cheri Uelmen’s Fantastically Fun Kid’s Run that will be held Saturday, May 6 at the McPhee Physical Education Center on the campus of UW-Eau Claire.
Also, there will be a cheering section and party with live music and drinks at the parking lot on the corner of Water Street and 5th Ave. Cheering and entertainment from a live Midwest Family Broadcasting radio personality begins at 9 a.m., while music courtesy of Irie Sol goes from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The event includes fun for all with beer, water, and entertainment. All racers and spectators are welcome to attend.
The marathon, in its ninth year of existence, is expected to draw over 4,000 runners with proceeds benefitting Life’s AMAZING! Pass it on!, Girls on the Run of Eau Claire, myTEAM TRIUMPH, World Vision, Heart Strides, the Jeanne Richie Longfellow Schools Wellness Program and many more. Parking will be available at 198 Water Street (UWEC lot), 2703 Craig Road (Clarion Hotel) and 620 W. Clairemont Ave. (CVTC Parking Lot #3). There will be NO PARKING allowed in Menomonie St. lot due to construction. Shuttles will be provided running from 6:15 a.m. – 3 p.m. Packet pickup is at McPhee Physical Education Center on Saturday, May 6 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Sunday, May 7 at Carson Park from 6 – 9:30 a.m. The Eau Claire Marathon Expo, presented by Stifel Investments, is Saturday, May 6 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at McPhee Physical Education Center.
