Fox Cities Roller Derby (FCRD) will take over Fox Cities Exhibition Center on August 24 with a full day of roller derby action to close out the league’s seventeenth season.
This event offers five games with three opportunities to support FCRD’s teams, the 920 Honeys and the All Stars, at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 6 p.m. The action starts at 10 a.m. when FCRD’s All Stars take on Windy City Roller Derby’s Third Coast. Doors open at 9 a.m.
“As we gear up for our last event of the season, we excited to invite everyone back to the Expo Center to experience the culmination of our hard work this season and our passion for the sport,” said Sara Benzel who skates as Tusnami Mommi.
In addition to five roller derby games, a Vendor Village will be open to attendees and the public to peruse. It will feature local vendors including Cheeky Ceramics, Fox Pop, Girls on the Run, Golden Poppy Coffee, EmTheJackalope, Moonlit Frog, Wild Unbroken, and the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce.
“It’s been a lot of fun being back in Appleton this year,” said Benzel. “We’ve missed these fans and it’s been so fun to reconnect with the community.’
Tickets are $15 for ages 12 and above if purchased in advance, and $18 at the door. Children ages 11 and below are free.
In September, FCRD is hosting a boot camp. It kicks off on September 21 with a pizza party info night at Appleton Beer Factory followed by two weeks of practice at Skater Edge where participants learn the basics of skating. This is open to anyone and no experience is required.
You can always find new league information on FCRD’s website www.foxcitiesrollerderby.com or follow along on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
