The 2022 Road to the Final Four® stops in Milwaukee on March 18 and 20 at Fiserv Forum. Home court of the Marquette University Golden Eagles, the arena hosts the first and second rounds of the NCAA® March Madness® Tournament. The event is expected to bring an estimated economic impact of $6.5 million as well as over 18,000 attendees to the Milwaukee area. Sports Milwaukee already has 5,000 room nights blocked for the event with more likely to follow as teams and spectators make their travel plans.

“Wisconsin sports is having a major moment right now, from the Milwaukee Bucks’ championship win last year to both the Badgers and Golden Eagles now taking part in the big dance this year,” said Marissa Werner, director of Sports Milwaukee. “And the momentum continues with Milwaukee hosting the 2022 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championships.”

The City of Champions will welcome eight teams to the Deer District, including the state’s very own Wisconsin Badgers. March Madness Returns to Milwaukee
Milwaukee also hosted the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball First and Second Rounds back in March 2017. That April, NCAA announced it would return to the Brew City five years later. Sports Milwaukee spearheaded a bid with Marquette University and the Milwaukee Bucks to host the 2022 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championships.

“Milwaukee is a sports city with a rich athletic tradition and a community that welcomes fans from across the globe,” Werner said. “Hosting the NCAA tournament is not only a huge win for Milwaukee, Marquette University, and Fiserv Forum, but also a perfect fit in our city of MVPs, VIPs, and OMGs!”

Visitors coming to the Cream City for the tournaments will have several fun experiences and options to enjoy themselves, both on and off the court. Sports Milwaukee will have welcome signage and volunteers stationed throughout the city to cheer on NCAA guests. VISIT Milwaukee has MKE Passes for visitors to take advantage of discounted fun with city sights and tastes. Fiserv Forum is offering exclusive, premium spaces for spectators looking to up their NCAA game. And Milwaukee’s streetcar, The Hop, is getting in on the excitement with its Hoops on The Hop promotion in partnership with The Wicked Hop restaurant.

“This is exactly why Milwaukee is such a phenomenal host city for sporting events,” Werner said. “In addition to getting our world-class facilities indoors and outdoors, visitors also experience our unbeatable hospitality from our workers and our community as a whole. We look forward to this tournament and many more opportunities to showcase our amazing city to the nation and to the world!”
