The long tradition of baseball in the Chippewa Valley will continue this weekend in Lake Hallie. The Eau Claire Sports Commission together with the Chippewa Falls Lumberjacks baseball team will host the Wisconsin Amateur Baseball Regionals on August 12-14 at Hallie Park in Lake Hallie.
According to Regional Tournament Coordinator, Andy Niese, Hallie is one of just four sites to host Wisconsin Amateur Baseball regional games this year. Other locations for semi-finals competition are Sparta, Haugen and Rib Lake.
Games will be played at Hallie Park under the lights Friday at 7:00 p.m., Saturday at noon, 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., and Sunday at noon and 3 p.m. Daily spectator admission to the tournament is $3.00 for adults, $1.00 for youth (9-17), and free for kids 8 and under. A family pass is just $5.00. Concessions will be available on the grounds.
From the weekend competition, two teams will emerge and move onto the Wisconsin Amateur Baseball State Finals tournament to be held in Merrill beginning August 19.
“The Eau Claire Sports Commission bid for the rights to host the Wisconsin Amateur Baseball Regional again this year,” Visit Eau Claire’s Executive Director Linda John said. “Because of our baseball history and excellent venues, the Eau Claire Area continues to be an ideal location.”
The estimated economic impact from this event is $54,000 to the area.
Visit Eau Claire effectively markets the Eau Claire area as a destination for conventions, group tours, sporting events, and leisure markets; to promote regional economic growth; to enhance the area’s overall identity and image; to sell fun, promote fun, and most importantly – have fun.
