FIFA's executive committee announced it will decide the host of the 2026 World Cup -- the next tournament for which the USA is eligible to bid to host -- in 2017. The US is widely considered the favorite to host. but the site selection process has been something of a mystery. However, all that is said to be changing.

The sport with the funny name is serious about attracting national competitions to new destinations. Pickleball, a paddle sport that looks a bit like tennis but is played with a ball similar to a whiffle ball, is growing at an astonishing rate, with new multi-court facilities open for business all over the U.S.

Hotels in Oregon aren't liking a bill that would remove their ability to object to competition in the area. The Oregon Senate moved to clear the way for a proposed 600-room Hyatt hotel at the Oregon Convention Center, financed in part by the Metro regional government. Other hoteliers are angry, citing increased competition and pressure to lower room rates.

The fifth International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Senior World Championship will be July 9-18 in Canton, Ohio. The field will include Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Japan, Mexico, South Korea and the United States, the two-time defending champion. IFAF is working with 78 countries spanning six continents with national federations for American football, up from 21 member nations in 2006.
