Destination Races has announced the hiring of Julia Stamps Mallon. Julia brings a lifetime of experience as a competitive runner and businesswoman. Julia attended Santa Rosa High School in Santa Rosa, Calif., where she set numerous state and national records in cross country and track and competed on six World teams. After receiving a full scholarship to Stanford University, she became a 6-time All American in cross country and track while graduating with bachelor's and master's degrees in sociology from Stanford.
Julia (left) then spent 10 years in the financial services industry, holding various positions in the Alternative Asset Management space in both New York City and Miami. She also worked briefly in the apparel industry and has served as a marketing consultant to various races, athletes and corporate clients. Julia recently moved backed to Sonoma County with her husband Jon and two daughters, Ashlin and Siena.
Julia is looking forward to working near home and being part of the Destination Races team. “By going to work at Destination Races, I’m joining forces with my favorite running series in the nation. I look forward to further building the Destination Races brand and Wine Country Half Marathon Series of events, my only regret being I won’t be able to run in these races anymore!”
Matt Dockstader, President of Destination Races, declared that Julia plans to wear a lot of hats for the company, ranging from race management to marketing. “Julia brings a lot of knowledge and skills to our company. Having handed her quite a few checks and magnums of wine on the awards stage over the past few years, I’ve come to appreciate her dedication to the sport. She will be a great asset, not only to Destination Races, but the industry in general.”
