The Waukesha & Pewaukee Convention and Visitors Bureau would like to welcome Matthew T. Olson to the position of Sports Sales Manager.
Olson joins the organization with an extensive background in sports and hospitality. He has both a B.S. and a M.S. degree in Sports Management. This education, combined with his most recent sales experience from United States Bowling Congress, where he worked with convention and visitor bureaus as well as sports commissions all across the country, he brings a wealth of resources and knowledge to this position.
In his position, Olson will work with Waukesha & Pewaukee sports facilities and hotels to solicit new sporting tournaments and events to the area. In addition, he will work with existing sporting events to determine if there are growth opportunities, while capturing as much of the available business as possible, stimulating the local economy through spending at hotels, restaurants, attractions and retail outlets. Sports travel is one of the fastest growing segments within the tourism industry, generating hundred of thousands of dollars in the state each year.
Olson looks forward to working with the area's hotel and facility partners to continue to bring high quality events to the community. In addition, he is eager to establish relationships with new sporting events and tournaments in order to highlight all the benefits of hosting events in Waukesha and Pewaukee.
