The NFHS has announced a three-year corporate partnership with School Music License as a founding member of the NFHS Performing Arts Corporate Partner Program.

School Music License enables schools to showcase their programs by granting permission to record and stream a wide range of school events, including music. From band, choir and orchestra concerts, to marching band performances, recitals, glee club concerts and more, School Music License helps schools showcase their students’ performances online.

“What an incredible service to bring to our NFHS community,” said NFHS CEO Dr. Karissa Niehoff. “School Music License has done the hard work of securing music copyright permissions on schools’ behalf so they can legally stream student performances. We are thrilled to partner with them.”

Alec Harris, President of GIA Publications and School Music License, added, “School Music License is the culmination of an eight-year effort to provide U.S. schools with an easy way to confidently record and stream all of their great performances with music —for parents, grandparents, students and the community — while at the same time providing fair compensation to those who create the wonderful music schools perform. Everyone wins!”

School Music License eliminates the frustration teachers and educational institutions experience when they try to obtain authorization from copyright owners for their use of copyrighted music. At the same time, School Music License affordably ensures that composers, songwriters, lyricists and publishers receive the appropriate royalties for their work.

“We couldn’t be more excited to partner with NFHS,” said School Music License Executive General Manager Brenna C. Horn-Cronin. “Our team has built a user-friendly platform that hosts more than 10 million titles from nearly 9,000 member publishers. We invite schools to do more with the music they love and receive a 10% discount off their first annual license with code NFHS10. Teachers should spend more time rehearsing and practicing with their students — not struggling with another administrative task!”
