Spring is finally here and NJCAA TV (www.njcaatv.com), the official digital video network of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), has finalized its broadcast schedule for national championship events this May.
Now partnered with Volar Video, NJCAA TV has seen impressive growth over the past year. NJCAA TV viewership increased dramatically in November 2013 during its live coverage of several fall championship events. The greatest increase was seen in viewers of the Division I Men’s Soccer Championship where 9,511 viewers watched Iowa Western defeat Tyler (Texas) in the finals, which was a 316 percent (%) increase from 2012. The upward trend in continued in March 2014 with NJCAA TV’s coverage of the NJCAA’s six national championship basketball tournaments with a combined 168 percent (%) viewership increase compared to 2013.
The NJCAA expects to see similar viewership growth with its 2014 spring championships coverage.
“Data we have collected tells us that NJCAA TV is reaching more and more fans each year,” said NJCAA Assistant Executive Director Mark Krug. “NJCAA TV has seen significant viewership growth year after year and we anticipate that being the trend in the months and years to come thanks to our partnership with Volar Video and the commitment our colleges and national championship hosts have made to promote the talented teams and student-athletes of the NJCAA.”
Live coverage of select NJCAA spring national championships begins May 10 with the semifinals of the NJCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship from the campus of Nassau Community College in Garden City, N.Y., and the Women’s Lacrosse Championship from the campus of Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, Md.
The national championship tournaments for Division I and Division II Softball will take center stage on NJCAA TV May 14-17 as live coverage of 11 games, including all contests on the final day of the tournaments, from St. George, Utah (Division I) and Clinton, Miss. (Division II).
Following live coverage of select events at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships from Mesa, Ariz., May 15-17, NJCAA TV will turn its attention to the organization’s three divisions of baseball. Beginning May 24 and continuing through May 31, NJCAA TV will broadcast all 53 games from the Division I (Grand Junction, Colo.), Division II (Enid, Okla.) and Division III (Tyler, Texas) Baseball Championships.
To assist viewers, NJCAA TV has created special access pages to the softball championships as well as the baseball championships. These webpages also provide access to past NJCAA softball and baseball championship tournaments that can be viewed at any time.
