The Tiger Woods Foundation has hired Dave Klewan as the general manager of the Genesis Open. The hiring bolsters the foundation’s team supporting its inaugural year of operating the Genesis Open, the annual PGA TOUR event that will be played February 13-19, 2017 at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
Klewan will lead the on-site Genesis Open office at The Riviera Country Club focusing on growing community support and new business opportunities for the historic event, which wraps up the 2016-17 PGA TOUR’s West Coast swing.
“I am grateful to be afforded the opportunity to work with the Tiger Woods Foundation in conjunction with the Genesis Open, which is a fixture on the Los Angeles sporting landscape and carries such history and prestige on the PGA TOUR,” Klewan said. “I am excited about embarking on a new opportunity and helping to develop the next chapter for this event as it begins its tenure under the wing of Genesis and the Tiger Woods Foundation.”
“The success of the Genesis Open is dependent upon a strong local leader and we are delighted to welcome Dave to our team,” said Mike Antolini, Vice President of Championships for the Tiger Woods Foundation. “With Dave’s experience and knowledge of Los Angeles, we are well positioned to grow the tournament and deepen the positive impact made in the community through the Genesis Open.”
Prior to joining the Tiger Woods Foundation, Klewan has spent nearly 15 years working in sports in the Greater Los Angeles area, most recently as the general manager of the World Series of Beach Volleyball & Management Plus Enterprises. In that role, Klewan oversaw all operational and sponsorship needs for the event that welcomed more than 60,000 attendees and saw more than 25 million viewers worldwide annually. Additionally, Klewan was a key part of the management team for three-time Olympic Gold Medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings.
The Tiger Woods Foundation also announced the additions of senior sales manager James Cefaly, sales manager Emily Kain and corporate partnerships coordinator Carly Dumbauld. The trio, who will join Klewan in the Genesis Open office at Riviera, will be tasked with identifying and implementing corporate partners within the greater Los Angeles community into the event. The new hires join the foundation’s event staff already on-site planning the Genesis Open.
