Team Red White & Blue has come aboard as a partner for the 2013 .US National Road Racing Championships, USA Track & Field (USATF) announced today. Slated for Nov. 17 in Alexandria, Va., the race features a 12 km, 5 km run/walk and ½ mile kids’ race. It is both an all-comers, community event and a USATF National Championship for elite and masters athletes.
“We are honored and proud to partner with Team Red White and Blue,” said USATF CEO Max Siegel. “The .US National Road Racing Championships is a true national event, and having Team RWB adds to the national celebration. We hope everyone taking part in the race will join us in thanking each Team RWB member we see volunteering along the course for their service to our country.”
Team RWB is dedicated to enriching the lives of America’s veterans by providing local and consistent opportunities for veterans and their families to connect with their communities through physical and social activities. Team RWB members will volunteer on race day, take part in the race and support promotional events leading up to the race.
The partnership continues USATF’s commitment to honoring and delivering benefits to military veterans and wounded service members, who receive special discounts on entry fees to the races.
“Team Red White and Blue and USATF are both committed to supporting veterans, and our organization is honored to be joining forces for this inaugural event.,” said Team RWB Mid-Atlantic Regional Director and Washington, DC Chapter Captain Brennan Mullaney. “Like Team RWB, USATF is a volunteer-driven organization that has successfully established grassroots programs to develop future leaders and champions. Team RWB couldn’t be happier to be aligning our organization with a nationally recognized brand of excellence.”
USATF’s first wholly owned and operated race is a 12-kilometer (12 km) event providing a season-capping finale to the USA Running Circuit (USARC), a series of national-championship races that annually provides nearly $1 million in prize money to American runners. The purse for the .US Championships is $100,000.
