USA Triathlon has announced the launch of its first-ever women’s microsite, usatriathlonwomen.com, which will serve as a hub for women’s-specific triathlon training information and community and industry resources. Its creation is part of a larger effort by the organization, outlined in its 2020 Quad Strategic Plan, to increase women’s triathlon participation in the U.S.
The microsite features a calendar of women’s-specific multisport events — including races, clinics and social gatherings — as well as a list of women’s triathlon clubs across the U.S. Women of all ages and competitive levels will be invited to share their multisport stories and celebrate their achievements on a regular basis through guest blogs on the site’s homepage.
In addition, professional development opportunities housed on the microsite encourage women to get involved in the industry side of the sport. Those interested in taking the next step in their multisport careers can find information about becoming a USA Triathlon-certified coach, official or race director — or applying for the Triathlon Business International Women’s Mentorship Program, designed to welcome more women into the business of triathlon while promoting the growth of female leadership within the industry.
The site will evolve with more resources set to be added in the coming months, including a peer mentor program, an online community of female race directors, and a calendar of upcoming clinics and presentations hosted by USA Triathlon Ambassadors across the country.
USA Triathlon partnered with SportsEngine, Inc., an NBC Sports Group company specializing in sport relationship management software, to develop and deploy the site. The USA Triathlon Regional women’s working group and the USA Triathlon Women’s Committee, two volunteer groups focused on providing opportunities for women in triathlon and mentoring professional growth, provided feedback on the site prior to its launch.
