If participants in your events like to turn their tournaments into stay-cations and take advantage of a city’s recreational opportunities, WalletHub can help. The personal finance website posted its 2017 list of the “Best Cities for Recreation” on July 6.
According to the site, WalletHub’s analysts determined the places where recreation is a high priority by comparing “the 100 largest U.S. cities across 44 key metrics that speak to the relative benefits of public spaces and recreational activities across the country. In each city, we examined basic living costs, the quality of parks, the accessibility of entertainment and recreational facilities, as well as the weather.”
Orlando, Fla., tops the list, followed by San Diego; Las Vegas; Tampa, Fla.; and Atlanta. Rounding out the top 10 is Cincinnati, Tucson, Ariz.; Denver; San Francisco; and Chicago.
Of the top 100 U.S. cities, Irving, Texas, rounded out the bottom of the list, coming in at No. 100. But two cities in New Jersey, Newark (No. 99) and Jersey City (No. 96), weren’t far behind. Neither were the California cities of Chula Vista (No. 97), Oakland (No. 95), Santa Ana (No. 94) and Fremont (No. 92).
