Target Audience: marathon event administrators and staff; local/state law enforcement, government officials, emergency managers, fire/Hazmat and emergency medical/health services; security companies responsible for providing contract services; city planners; sponsors; governing bodies and insurance companies.

Additional Information: The attendees will address the following identified key safety and security challenges facing marathon event managers: Event Day Plan: Public/Private Collaboration; Crowd Dynamics/Management; Emergency Action Planning; Risk and Threat Assessment/Vulnerabilities and Planning; Staff Performance; and Technology Use/Information Management. Attendees will have an opportunity to participate in moderated, small group discussions (round robin format) soliciting their input for each of the designated issues.

Theats and environments change and as a result, security plans should be considered living documents that must change to meet challenges, take advantage of new resources/technology and avoid the development of patterns that could result in a security risk. Continuous quality improvement should be the standard by which security and safety plans are reviewed and refreshed.
