Countdown to Showdown In San Angelo Dragboat Races

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 21st, 22nd and 23rd, the annual Showdown in San Angelo Drag Boat Races will be held at Lake Nasworthy, presented by Speedco Truck Lube & Tires.  This year’s race will feature six top fuel boats, the most to date.  Top fuel boats can exceed 250 mph and are enormous crowd pleasers. 

The schedule of events is as follows:

Friday, June 21st
Test & Tune at Lake Nasworthy (spectators may watch the racers tune up their boats and run the track all day in preparation for a full weekend of racing)
Show & Shine at Mary Lee Park 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. (meet your favorite drivers, and see the drag boats up close)
Bonus Show & Shine on Thursday, June 20th from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. downtown on the corner of Concho & Oakes

Saturday, June 22nd
Qualifying Races
Gates open 7:00 a.m., Races begin 9:00 a.m.

Sunday, June 23rd
Final Eliminations
Gates Open 8:00 a.m.
Church services @ Spring Creek 9:00 a.m.
Races begin 9:30 a.m.

Presale ticketing will continue through Thursday, June 20th at six ticket locations: The San Angelo Chamber of Commerce, Joe’s Ice House, The Office Bar Downtown, West Central Wireless, NAPA Auto Parts, and Suddenlink Communications, or may be purchased at www.showdowninsanangelo.com. Tickets purchased online may be redeemed with printed receipt through Thursday, June 20th at the Chamber of Commerce or at the gate beginning Friday, June 21st.   Beginning Friday, June 21st, all tickets must be purchased at the gates at Spring Creek or Grassy Meadows.
