USA Cycling has announced the dates and venues for the 18th season of the American Mountain Bike Challenge (AMBC). The 2014 calendar will consist of 11 events contested in 10 different states and spanning from March to November.
The AMBC was created in 1996 to provide opportunities for mountain bikers of all ages and abilities. Each stop on the series offers cross-country races, while some events may host short-track cross country, downhill, observed trials, or super D competitions as well.
AMBC events held prior to July 14 will also serve to qualify riders for the USA Cycling Mountain Bike Cross-Country National Championships, which take place July 17-20 at Bear Creek Resort in Pennsylvania. The number of rider qualification slots will be 10-deep per discipline, gender, and age-group for Category 1. There are no qualification requirements for Categories 2 and 3.
AMBC Pro events will feature a minimum $1,500 pro cash purse. Visit the AMBC page to learn more about the nationwide calendar.
