E-bikes and the accessories that support them are a fast-growing segment in today's market. Bicycle Retailer & Industry News will help explain the burgeoning e-bike market and how to profit from it as part of a three-day E-Bike Retail Tour in Southern California.
The tour — riding e-bikes from Yamaha Power Assist Bicycles — will visit a broad array of retailers in Long Beach, Pasadena and Santa Monica.
"The consumer excitement surrounding electric bicycles have inspired a wide variety of retailers to embrace the category," said Drew Engelmann, sales and marketing manager at Yamaha Power Assist Bicycles.
"As the brand credited with launching the world's first electrically power-assisted bicycle, we're looking forward to this opportunity to meet the retailers credited for actively promoting electric bicycles and supporting the overall community of cycling in their areas," Engelmann said.
The tour will hear directly from retailers on the issues they face—and solve daily—as e-bikes command a greater share of the market. Editors will listen as the tour's sponsors discuss the market face-to-face with retailers and learn how they are handling new consumers, sales, margins, service and warranties among other issues.
"No one knows the issues e-bike sales and service pose for IBDs better than retailers now in the market," said Marc Sani, the magazine's publisher. "We will visit upwards of 12 retail outlets over three days in what is perhaps one of the most vibrant e-bike markets in the nation to learn all we can," he added.
The tour will generate daily news coverage on BRAIN's website, daily social media posts as the tour winds its way through Southern California, and extensive coverage on issues and solutions in the November print edition of the magazine. That issue also will be distributed digitally to BRAIN's globally targeted subscriber list.
Englemann said that "as people continue to find new ways to integrate e-bikes into their lifestyle, we want to learn directly from retailers how they are responding to the continuous consumer evolution and how manufacturers can help facilitate a positive experience for both retailer and rider."
The tour is slated to begin Oct. 7 in Long Beach. It will then shift to retail outlets in Pasadena and end on Oct. 10 after visits to stores in Santa Monica. The tour offers three levels of sponsorship—Gold, Silver and Bronze.
