USA Cycling has announced the four finalists to host the 2017-18 Cyclo-cross National Championships, a list that has been narrowed from 11 applicants. Two of the final four cities will be awarded one-year championship contracts to host the 2017 and 2018 National Championships.
The finalists are: Bend, Ore., which was the site of the 2010 and 2011 Cyclo-cross National Championships. The course in Bend would be similar to the 2010-11 National Championships courses, but would utilize more of the amphitheater area near the Old Mill District; Hartford, Conn., where the Championships would run at Riverfront Park on banks of the Connecticut River, which is adjacent to downtown Hartford; Louisville, Ky., site of the 2013 UCI World Championships; and Reno, Nev., which would run at Rancho San Rafael County Park, one mile from the city center of Reno.
USA Cycling will finish site visits in the next month and will announce the final location selection before the 2015 Cyclo-cross National Championships in Austin, Texas.
