Nike plans to launch a 7-on-7 national football league in five major cities, according to a report on CBS Sports.
The five host cities are San Francisco, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and Kansas City as part of an exclusive sponsorship deal with Marriott. The 25-member teams will practice and compete in two tournaments, with the cost per player being an estimated $1,000.
7-on-7 football is a program that many high schools and middle schools run during the off-season. 7-on-7 is played without pads and receivers are downed by one-hand touch (there are no flags involved). 7-on-7 is also a passing only game and defenders cannot rush the quarterback.

Nike already sponsors The Opening, the biggest 7-on-7 recruiting event held annually on campus in Beaverton, OR.
