Abu Garcia and the Association of Collegiate Anglers announce the renewal of their partnership to support college fishing as part of the 2024 Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series. Abu Garcia’s continued partnership with the ACA will include presenting sponsorship of the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year program presented by Abu Garcia, as well as maintained support for college anglers through a variety of programs and initiatives, including at the 2024 Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops.
“No one illustrates Abu Garcia’s “Fish to Win” attitude better than collegiate athletes who pursue the sport of fishing with the same dedication as any athlete in any sport,” said Marc Kempter, Vice President of Marketing Communications for Abu Garcia. “We are excited to be able to continue our partnership in 2024 as the presenting sponsor of the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year program.”
At the 2023 Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops on Lake Hartwell in Anderson, SC, Abu Garcia continued its trade-in and trade up program for anglers to participate in the ACA National Championship. During the annual Angler & Sponsor Banquet on Wednesday night of Championship Week, competitors were able to bring a used fishing reel to trade in for a new Abu Garcia Revo Rocket. Abu Garcia then donated the used fishing reels to the South Carolina DNR for them to use to teach young anglers how to fish.
“Abu Garcia has been a long-time supporter of college anglers and the ACA, a partnership that now extends to 18 years. The Trade-In and Trade Up program has been a huge hit each of the last two years, with well over 500 rods and reels being donated to benefit youth anglers,” said Wade Middleton, ACA Director and President of CarecoTV. “The Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia is college fishing’s most coveted title. As we enter the spring portion of the season, this is shaping up to be the most tightly contested race in the history of the program.”
The Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia is a 12-month long chase in which hundreds of college bass fishing’s best teams compete to end the year ranked number one. ACA staff maintain the comprehensive ranking system on a week-to-week basis, updating the rankings as events are contested throughout the year. As part of this race, teams from California to Michigan, all the way down to Florida, compete in dozens of valuable points eligible events. With last season’s addition of triple points to be awarded at the Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops, the 2023-24 race is guaranteed to come down to the wire!
