The acquirement of Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) by Major League Fishing (MLF) has prompted some changes in Bass Fishing League (BFL) tournaments for 2020. The FLW operates the BFL circuit.
The news was carried in the Davidson County Dispatch and is reprinted below:
The BFL circuit has now been renamed the Phoenix Bass Fishing League presented by T-H Marine. The entry fees have also been reduced. The entry fee for boaters for one-day tournaments is $200 and $100 for co-anglers. The entry fee for boaters for two-day super tournaments is $300 and $150 for co-anglers. Regionals have no entry fee.
Tournament advancement is similar to previous years. The top 45 boaters and co-anglers from each division advance to a designated Regional where they compete against qualifying fishermen from other divisions. The top 6 boaters and co-anglers from each Regional and the Wild Card qualify for the All-American.
The two divisions of interest to local fishermen are the North Carolina and Piedmont divisions. High Rock Lake is included in both divisions. Here are their schedules.
The North Carolina Division visits Lake Norman on Feb, 29, Lake Wylie on April 4, Kerr Lake on April 18, High Rock Lake on June 13 and Norman again on Sept. 12-13 for a two-day super tournament. Qualifiers fish Regional 2 at the James River on Oct. 8-10.
The Piedmont Division has events at Kerr Lake on April 25 and May 16, High Rock Lake on June 6, the James River on Aug. 8 and Smith Mountain Lake on Sept. 19-20 for a super two-day tournament. Its qualifiers fish Regional 6 at Lake Lanier, Ga., on Oct. 22-24.
The date for the All American is to be announced.
