Greene County Partnership Sports Council to host AAU National Golf Championships

Greeneville, TN – The Sports Council of the Greene County Partnership will host the 2012 AAU National Golf Championships July 19-22 at Link Hills Country Club.

The competition will offer the following age categories: six and under, eight and under, 10 and under, 12 and under, 14 and under, 16 and under, and 18 and under.

On Thursday, July 19, the event will feature a “Parent/Junior” tournament at a cost of $42 per team and competition will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday with a shotgun start. Saturday and Sunday play will begin at 8 a.m. with an awards presentation to follow the event.
 

Entry fee is $145 per athlete in the six and under, eight and under divisions. For the tournament, nine holes will be played daily and an 18 hole practice round is included.

Entry fee is $175 per athlete for the 10 and under, 12 and under, 14 and under, 16 and under and 18 and under divisions. This includes 18 holes daily and a practice round. The event is limited to the first 96 players, and will also include a Long Drive contest and Putting Contest for the six and under, eight and under, 10 and under and 12 and under on Saturday, a Player’s Banquet, Bridgestone golf balls and awards.

Bridgestone Golf is the tournament sponsor. Each of the 18 National Golf Champions will receive a Bridgestone golf bag. The boy and girl AAU National Long Drive Champions will receive Sky Caddie Range Finders and $500 college scholarships will be awarded to the overall boy and girl champions.

One designated par-3 hole each day will have a $5,000 scholarship award for a “hole in one.” Any other “hole in one” will receive an award. All scores will be sent to Junior Golf Scoreboard and Golf Week magazine for ranking.
