Drone Racing League (DRL), the #1 drone racing property, launched the DRL SIM, the ultimate FPV (First Person View) drone flight simulator, on PlayStation. The DRL SIM is the fastest, easiest, and most cost-effective way for aspiring pilots to get the FPV drone skills they need. Through its accurate physics, aerodynamics and drone data, the game is a hyper-realistic replica of real-life FPV drone racing.
The DRL SIM, which is also available for download on Xbox and Steam, expanded to PlayStation following a skyrocketing global interest in learning to fly drones: DRL SIM downloads soared by over 100% on Xbox and Steam compared to last year and social conversations around #DroneSkills shot up 200% in the last six months.
“FPV pilots need real drone skills to fly, and the best way to get them is on the DRL SIM on PlayStation, Xbox and Steam. In honor of our console expansion, which further broadens the accessibility of our sport to players around the world, we’re celebrating the incredible abilities of drone pilots. We invite anyone who flies to join in the #DroneSkills challenge by sharing their masterful skills and we encourage prospective pilots to learn how to fly with our SIM,” said DRL CMO Anne Marie Giantusos.
The DRL SIM preps aspiring pilots with the drone skills they need to fly, build and race FPV drones safely without crashing their drone or breaking the bank on new parts. Its 54 training missions teach players navigation techniques including how to hover, pitch and yaw racing drones and give real-time feedback for improvement along the way. Players can practice building their ultimate drone in the Workbench, which features real components that power up to 120 million different combinations, and fly their quad-creations freestyle or through multiplayer competitions. Races take place in the same legendary locations that pro DRL pilots fly through the Allianz World Championship Seasons, like stadiums, palaces and amusement parks.
The DRL SIM serves as the official virtual drone racing platform for DRL SIM-racing events, hosts esports tournaments to recruit new pilots into the league and offers educational programming for the league’s DRL Academy STEM program.
