USA Badminton (USAB), the recognized national governing body for the sport of badminton in the United States, is headquartered at the United States Olympic Complex in Colorado Springs, Colorado. USA Badminton oversees sanctioned tournaments nationwide, develops grassroots initiatives to foster increased participation in the sport, certifies and educates coaches and prepares the best players in the nation to excel in international competition, including the Olympic Games.
USAB sends teams to major international tournaments, including the Olympic Games, Pan American Games, World Championships, Sudriman Cup, Thomas and Uber Cup and World Junior Championships, to name a few. USAB also hosts major national events such as the US Adult National Championships, US Junior National Championships, and the US Senior National Championships. The organization also maintains the national player rankings, publishes educational materials on the sport and holds regular training camps and coaching clinics.
USA Badminton boasts over 4,000 members nationwide and estimates many more thousands of recreational badminton players in the United States. A 2008 study by the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association reported that approximately 1,362,000 people play badminton frequently in the US. Badminton is truly a growing sport in the US as well as on the international level.
