USA Climbing is excited to announce the dates and locations of the 2019 National Cup Series. The series includes events hosted by the top climbing facilities across the country from October– December 2019. The best boulderers in the US will compete against each other for a cash purse at each event and gain ranking points towards the Bouldering Season National Ranking.
October 18/19, 2019: Stone Age Climbing Gym – Albuquerque, NM
November 1/2, 2019: Dogpatch Boulders – San Francisco, CA
December 6/7, 2019: High Point Climbing and Fitness – Memphis, TN
Each of these organizations brings years of experience to the series. This will be Dogpatch Boulders second time hosting a National Cup Series competition, having hosted the "Battle of the Bay" competition back in 2017. Stone Age Climbing Gym is looking to build upon the success of the 2016 and 2017 "Yank-N-Yard" NCS competitions. High Point, having successfully hosted in 2016 and 2017 at their Birmingham location, look to showcase a new location by bringing the event to their brand-new facility in Memphis, TN.
"We are very excited to bring USA Climbing's National Cup Series back to Albuquerque again this year", said Bryan Pletta, Owner of Stone Age Climbing Gym. "We plan to make this Yank-N-Yard the best with an exciting Open Finals for our local members as well as our remote audience through the live broadcast. This will be the third year of our partnership with USA Climbing which gives us the resources to up our game and provide the best competition experience for the athletes and spectators alike."
High Point Climbing and Fitness opened their Memphis facility in December of 2018. The facility features over 30,000 square feet of climbing terrain as well as a 45 ft climbing wall on the outside of the building. "We are super excited to host our third National Cup Series competition at our brand-new flagship facility in Memphis, Tennessee", said John Wiygul, President of High Point Climbing and Fitness.
"Touchstone is super psyched to host Battle of the Bay at Dogpatch Boulders for the third year in a row and the second year as a National Cup Series event with USA Climbing", said Ryan Moon, Program Director for Touchstone Climbing. "Last year, this event was the one of the largest indoor bouldering competitions in the U.S. and this year we're excited to bring you something even cooler."
