Beth Porreca, director of special events at US Lacrosse, has been recognized as an industry leader in Connect magazine’s “40 Under 40” feature in its May/June issue. Connect magazine is a national, business-to-business magazine that provides resources and ideas to association and specialty group meetings professionals.
Porreca was nominated by her peers in the professional and specialty association meetings world. Numerous nominations were reviewed and evaluated by the Connect editorial staff based on references, industry involvement and other resources. The annual “40 Under 40” feature is not advertising-driven and not connected with any promotional contest, making this truly an honor for those selected.
“The individuals represented in our second annual ‘40 Under 40’ are the future of the association meetings industry,” said Chris Collinson, president and publisher of Collinson Media and Events. “They, together with their colleagues, industry partners and mentors, are helping elevate the profession and move it forward.”
“It is an honor to be included in Connect magazine’s ‘40 Under 40’ list, and I appreciate being selected,” said Porreca, who joined US Lacrosse in 2010. “The honor is more a reflection of the dedication and hard work of the US Lacrosse events staff. Our primary focus is to provide a rewarding, enjoyable and safe experience for the attendees of US Lacrosse events.”
Porreca, previously the manager of event logistics for The U.S. Olympic Committee Training Centers and a member of the U.S. delegation to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, manages a full-time staff of four: Ariana Andis-Klein, Lauren Marron, Shannon Minter and Kim Rogers. The US Lacrosse events staff plans and executes anywhere from a dozen to 15 events each year, ranging from youth tournaments to U.S. national team exhibitions to the US Lacrosse Convention and Fan Fest and the National Hall of Fame Induction Celebration.
In 2014, US Lacrosse will host the Federation of International Lacrosse Men’s World Championship at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Denver July 10-19. It’s expected to be the largest international lacrosse event ever with as many as 40 nations participating and with hundreds of teams competing in age-specific festivaltournaments.
