Gateway Motorsports Park has brought back Midnight Madness, a forum for would-be drag racers to test their skills in a contained environment.
Because illegal street drag racing has become a serious problem in St. Louis, Gateway MSP offers a safe place for licensed drivers 16 years and older to drag race and drift their cars on a supervised, nationally-sanctioned drag strip. Midnight Madness events are on the schedule monthly during the season.
The first event took place on Friday, March 21, and included drag racing, drifting, music, Show and Shine and St. Louis Grudge Outlawz Battle. Other Midnight Madness Events will be offered throughout the racing season. The website calendar contains all information. www.gatewaymsp.com
Gateway Motorsports Park is located at 700 Raceway Blvd., Madison, IL.
Each year, too many young people are seriously injured and some killed due to illegal drag racing on Hall Street and various locations throughout the City of St. Louis.
“It’s time for the community to come together and support an alternative to illegal street racing,” said Curtis Francois, retired racecar driver and owner of Gateway Motorsports Park. Francois is leading the charge to spread the word to kids about how to safely satisfy their need for speed on a supervised, authorized race track.
At Gateway Motorsports Park, the mission is to provide fans, racers and sponsors with a first-class, up close and personal racing experience. This includes unprecedented access to the drag strip, the oval, the road-racing track and a nationally-sanctioned karting track as well as special events such as concert and corporate functions for year-round activity at Gateway Motorsports Park. www.gatewaymsp.com
