USA Triathlon today unveiled the dates and locations for its 2023 National Championships, a robust calendar of triathlon and multisport events across the United States. At USA Triathlon National Championships, athletes will have the opportunity to compete for U.S. national titles against the top multisport athletes in the country and qualify to represent Team USA at 2024 World Triathlon Age Group World Championships.
The slate of newly announced events join the following 2023 USA Triathlon National Championships, which opened registration, powered by TicketSocket, earlier this year: USA Triathlon Multisport National Championships Festival (April 19-23, Irving, Texas) and USA Triathlon Nationals (Sprint & Olympic-Distance Nationals and Youth & Junior Nationals; Aug. 4-6, Milwaukee, Wis.).
USA Triathlon also hosts the annual Legacy Triathlon, held in Long Beach, California on the proposed course of the LA 2028 Olympic & Paralympic Games triathlon competitions. The 2023 edition of Legacy Triathlon is scheduled for July 15-16 and features a sprint-distance triathlon and an open-water swim. Registration is open now at the event's website.

Kicking off the USA Triathlon National Championships 2023 calendar is the Winter Triathlon National Championships on Jan. 21 in Anchorage, Alaska. The run-bike-Nordic ski race will be held for the third consecutive year as part of the Tri-Flake Winter Triathlon, hosted by the Alaska Triathlon Club. Collegiate Club National Championships, annually one of the most high-energy triathlons in the country, will be held for the second consecutive year in Lake Lanier, Georgia, on April 14-16 and organized by Empower Multisport. Irving, Texas, will again host the Multisport National Championships Festival in 2023. Scheduled for April 19-23, Multisport National Championships Festival encompasses eight of USA Triathlon’s National Championship events, bringing to Irving multisport athletes who will compete for a titles in the following National Championships:

Gravel Triathlon, Off-Road Triathlon and Off-Road Duathlon National Championships will be held for the second consecutive year in mountain biking haven Fayetteville, Arkansas, on June 2-3 in conjunction with the Walmart Ozark Valley Triathlon. Gravel Triathlon National Championships made its debut last year, joining the rapidly growing trend of gravel-related events springing up around the country. On Aug. 4-6 in Milwaukee, USA Triathlon will host USA Triathlon Nationals, the new multiple-day triathlon event that combines the longstanding Age Group National Championships, which includes the Sprint- and Olympic-Distance Nationals, and Zone3 Youth & Junior Nationals into one combined event.
2023 will be the third straight year for Milwaukee to host USA Triathlon’s marquee national championship. In both 2021 and 2022, Sprint- and Olympic-Distance Nationals attracted more than 6,000 registrants — the first two times in the event’s history to hit the 6,000-mark. Sprint- and Olympic-Distance Nationals will once again include the Clydesdale & Athena National Championships in 2023. Qualification is required for Sprint- and Olympic-Distance Nationals and registration is currently open for qualified athletes. Athletes will receive “You’ve Qualified” emails from USA Triathlon with a unique link to register.
Now a part of USA Triathlon Nationals, Zone3 Youth & Junior Nationals brings together youth triathletes ages 7-19 for participation-based youth racing and junior draft-legal racing. Qualification is not required to participate in the youth age group races, which are open to athletes ages 7-18 (previously limited to ages 7-15). Zone3 Youth & Junior Nationals also includes paratriathlon divisions and a dedicated racing category for athletes with an intellectual impairment. Registration is open now.
For the second consecutive year, Ultra-Distance National Championships will be held Aug. 13 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike, 26.2-mile run race will be held in conjunction with the Michigan Titanium. For more information and to register, visit the event website here.
The Military and First Responders National Championships will be held Oct. 21 in Palm Springs, California, in conjunction Palm Springs Triathlon, organized by Alpha Win. The Military and First Responders National Championships will include sprint-distance and Olympic-distance events honoring men and women in the following categories: Overall Military - Active Duty; Overall Military - Retired/Veteran; Overall First Responder — Police/Law Enforcement; Overall First Responder — Fire/EMS. The sprint-distance event will also feature three categories for Paratriathlon Military and Paratriathlon First Responders: Ambulatory, Wheelchair and Visually Impaired. Wrapping the 2023 National Championships season will be the Long Course National Championships, to be held Dec. 3 at Daytona Beach, Florida, in conjunction with CLASH Endurance Daytona. The event will include championship races in long course triathlon, long course duathlon and long course aquabike, all at Daytona International Speedway, giving athletes the opportunity to experience racing at the one-of-a-kind venue. At several National Championships in the 2023 season, amateur athletes will race not only for national titles, but also for the chance to represent Team USA at the 2024 World Triathlon Age Group Championships for their respective disciplines.
