Oceanside Honor Bowl Football Invitational and Military Expo on September 6 & 7, 2013: Oceanside High School will play host to the 2013 Honor Bowl, a high school football showcase to benefit military veterans. The bowl will feature eight elite varsity high school football programs from the Southern California region, as well as the Marine Camp Pendleton football teams. The event will also include halftime shows, parachute drops, a military memorial wall and food court. The Oceanside event will take place on Friday, September 6 and Saturday, September 7. A week later, there’s the OAA Summer Fly-In Car Show on September 14, 2013. Oceanside Airport Association presents a fun-filled afternoon featuring vintage planes, classic cars, skydiving exhibitions, remote controlled jets, the go-fast jet pack man and great food! Bike the Coast-Taste The Coast on November 2, 2013: Oceanside's 4th annual Bike the Coast-Taste the Coast is a popular family event that promotes Oceanside's bike-friendly nature, followed by a festival at the Junior Seau Pier Amphitheater with food, drink, music and fun. Beginners, experienced cyclists, kids and families are welcome to participate in the event, which offers five out-and-back routes ranging from 7 miles to 100 miles. The relatively flat, 7 and 15 mile route along the San Luis Rey Bike Trail is the most family-friendly ride and can accommodate visitors with beach cruisers as well as riders with mountain bikes, road bikes and BMX bikes. Oceanside Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2013: Move your feet before you eat! Oceanside's popular O'side Turkey Trot has grown into a north county Thanksgiving tradition. Last year, a record field of more than 9,000 ran and walked the 5 mile, 5K and kids courses on one of the most scenic, oceanfront courses in America. In the spirit of giving, five dollars from each entry fee may be designated Oceanside schools or a non-profit of the participant's choice, or to the Move Your Feet Before You Eat Foundation.
