United Soccer Leagues announced today the divisional allotments for the 2013 Super-20 League Finals. A total of 16 of the 55 participating U20 men’s teams will receive bids to fight for championship honors this year. The finals will take place July 18-21 and once again will be hosted at the world-class facilities of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
The Mid Atlantic Division will feature nine teams in 2012 stretching from North Carolina to Pennsylvania, and will receive two spots at the finals. The Mid South Division (Texas) features 10 teams split into North and South subdivisions with five teams in each. Mid South will receive three total bids, with each subdivision champion and the top second-place team moving on to the finals.
The Southeast Division will be made up of five Florida clubs fighting for a lone spot at the finals, while the Midwest East (Michigan, Ohio, Ontario), Midwest West (Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Missouri), and North Atlantic West (New Jersey, Pennsylvania) will each feature six teams and receive two bids per division. The North Atlantic East (Connecticut, New Jersey, New York) is comprised of five clubs and will receive two spots, while the New England Division (Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Ontario) will have eight teams and two spots at the finals.
Last year’s champions, the Chicago Fire, will look to retain the trophy while competing in the Midwest West Division. The Columbus, Ohio-based Crew Juniors, from the Midwest East, will try to make it to their fourth consecutive final.
