The USA-Mexico showdown at the Rose Bowl Oct. 10 is destined for the big screen, as well as the one you carry in your pocket.
Fox Sports 1, which will broadcast the game, has partnered with Fathom Events to also show it in movie theaters throughout the country. In addition to the game itself, theater coverage will include the last 30 minutes of FS1’s extensive pregame show.
“We’re really excited to be working with Fathom Events to bring the huge match between the U.S. and Mexico to big screens throughout the country,” said FOX Sports head of business David Nathanson in a joint release announcing the deal.
“Live sports are the ultimate shared community experience, and the electric scene at what will be a jam-packed Rose Bowl will no doubt have fans in theaters feeling as if they’re in Pasadena too.”
Select theaters around the country – including the New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago markets – will offer the game, which is scheduled to kick off at 9:30 p.m. ET. Tickets are available at www.FathomEvents.com or at participating theater.
To be used in the production is the FS1 broadcast feed, which is in English. The press release issued by the companies did not mention an option in Spanish or other languages. The game will be broadcast in Spanish by Univision.
