All In Sport Consulting, in partnership with Stitch Marketing Research and Huddle Up Group (HUG), is conducting the 4th edition of the Adapted Sports Industry Economic Impact Study to capture and project the economic power of the national adapted sports industry. The first study was conducted in 2020 and has since become the industry’s preeminent economic impact research tool, helping to demonstrate a strong business case for adapted and para-sport-related events.

The survey for the 2024 economic impact study is open now and will be accessible through Monday, Sept. 30, 2024. Participation from adapted sport and other aligned organizations is critical to help ensure the study accurately measures the industry’s true economic footprint. Study leaders also encourage travel and tourism entities to work with their local adapted sport organization to complete the survey. The survey should take no more than 20-30 minutes to complete and is accessible at the following link:

Wheelchair Basketball“As a result of this survey, we are excited that more and more organizations are having discussions around the economic impact of adapted sport,” said Dawna Callahan, founder and chief executive officer of All In Sport Consulting. “It’s important to continue these conversations to advance the movement and be recognized as the formidable cultural and economic force that we are. Building the business case around adapted sport is more important now than ever as the country looks to host the Paralympic Games in 2028.”

The 2024 Adapted Sports Industry Economic Impact Study is sponsored by Richmond Region Tourism and the Tempe Tourism Office. In a recent blog, the organizations expressed their support of the survey stating, “This important study seeks to analyze the economic contributions of adapted sports events while shedding light on the broader social impact these events have on communities. One of the goals of providing economic data is to give organizations and leaders in this space a resource to share perspectives on the movement’s economic power. By highlighting the financial benefits and potential for growth, we aim to encourage investment and participation in adapted sports, driving further progress in inclusivity.”

The first Adapted Sports Industry Economic Impact Study, conducted in 2020 reflecting pre-pandemic activity from 2019, was the first-ever economic impact study for the adapted sport industry. The inaugural study reported an annual economic impact for adapted sport events ranging from approximately $80.5 to $134.2 million. A follow-up study was conducted in 2022, reporting an annual economic impact of $77.8 million for 2021 events. The 2023 study, reflecting 2022 events, totaled $139.1 million, demonstrating an increase of approximately 78 percent over the previous report and an unquestionable recovery to pre-pandemic activity levels. Review findings and data from the 2023 study here.

Findings for the 2024 Adapted Sports Industry Economic Impact Study will be released at the Adapted Sport Leadership & Business Symposium (LABS), a two-day virtual conference presented by All In Sport Consulting on November 6 and 7.
